Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Best Kushi movie review

Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha pour their charisma in Shiva Nirvana’s romantic entertainer, Kushi.

Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu express their charm in filmmaker Shiva Nirvana’s ‘Kushi,’ which amps up the feel-good factor but avoids delving deeper into its conflict point.

One of the things that stuck with me after seeing Kushi was how meticulously it was packaged to be a feel-good entertainer. The trio at the center of this film — director Shiva Nirvana, actors Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu — requires box office approbation following their individual box office failures. As a result, considerable effort is made to make Kushi a fun family entertainer. Kushi movie review

The charming stars are cast in a romance drama packed with humour and wonderful music, and the plot has numerous references to Mani Ratnam films, as well as Vijay and Samantha. Underneath the entertaining facade lies a clash of opposing views that can strain relationships. Shiva Nirvana offers a straightforward approach to demonstrating that love can overcome differences. Some of the characters are one-note, and the investigation of ideas is similarly superficial. Kushi movie review

The first chapter establishes that Shiva Nirvana, who wrote the story, screenplay, and dialogues, must consider a nuanced picture of humanity in all their intricacies. Lenin Sathya Sachin Khadekar is an atheist, and his home is decorated with posters of scientists and statements like “In science we trust. Chadarangam Srinivasa Rao .Murali Sharma), on the other hand, is noted for his pravachanam and commitment to faith and rituals. The two spar in a raucous television debate. Shiva Nirvana tells the ViplavAradhya relationship while warmly thanking Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman. Viplav is a Mani Ratnam fan, and the entire sequence in which he gets a taste of reality in Kashmir with Pitobash (Vennela Kishore, who is good at evoking laughter while remaining serious) is entertaining to watch. G Murali’s camera, designed to capture Kashmir like PC Sreeram and Santosh Sivan, pays homage to the masters, while music composer Hesham Abdul Wahab cheerfully jumps in with a feel-good composition when Viplav wonders how an ARR background score for Kashmir might sound.

Better writing may have improved the scenarios in which Viplav woos Aradhya. But we give in to the amusement, although cinematic and foolish, because Vijay Deverakonda plays his part with innocence and earnestness, channeling all of his charisma. It’s been a long time since the actor tapped into his true strength — that of an imperfect lad next door. He owns every aspect of his role and carries the film through its weaker final sections. There’s also a humorous allusion to Arjun Reddy, who teaches his pal about gender awareness! The fact that Rahul Ramakrishna plays the friend adds to the enjoyment.

When the two families clash, Kushi goes into Alaipayuthey (Sakhi in Telugu) mode after repeated references to Roja and Dil Se. The father roles are virtually caricatures, and Shiva Nirvana takes use of this to create a tense section on a metro train that also gets a few laughs. Saranya Ponvannan, who plays Viplav’s mother, and Lakshmi, who plays Aradhya’s grandmother, may be the voices of reason, but their roles are limited. Kushi movie review

Shiva Nirvana, director: ‘Kushi’ will discuss something other than post-marriage romance, which we haven’t mentioned in the trailer.

Samantha gradually comes into her own. In the Kashmir episode, she is merely a mystery woman who Viplav falls in love with at first sight. Sharanya Pradeep, as the buddy, does most of the talking and is believable. When we learn more about Aradhya and visit her Kakinada house, it’s a delight to observe her friendship with Lakshmi, which brings back memories of Oh! Baby. Kushi movie review

As Viplav and Aradhya rebel against their families, more Alaipayuthey references appear. Even the middle-class setting and the older couple .Rohini and Jayaram. who urge the younger pair to look beyond everyday conflict is a tribute to Alaipayuthey and Okay Kanmani.

Telugu cinema desperately needs blockbusters. Can ‘Kushi’, ‘Skanda’, and ‘Salaar’ turn the tide?

When Kushi’s parents intervene, he begins to wobble. When a father reacts to learning of a sad incident with a ‘I told you so’ type of statement rather than offering emotional support, it reflects how egoistic the human mind can be. In the final segment, the issue is resolved and two polar opposite individuals meet halfway.

The parts that lead up to this point, on the other hand, are patchy. The story never tries to focus on any subject long enough for it to have an impact. It is always in a hurry to burst into a comedic situation or a song and dance in order to keep the feel-good aspect going. It is to the credit of both

Vijay and Samantha aided generously by Chinmayi’s dubbing) that we can sense their characters’ inner agony in these scenes. Murali Sharma and Sachin Khadekar both try to transcend their characters’ limitations, but there is only so much they can do. (Kushi movie review)

Is Kushi a good watch? Most emphatically. It’s a pleasant love musical with two endearing leads. It could have been a standout film if it had handled the science vs religion debate with more thinking and effort.
